Terms and Conditions

At Gratefulknives, we focus on craftsmanship and personal service. Every knife is handmade in our workshop. To help you know exactly what to expect, we’ve clearly outlined our terms and conditions below.

1. Placing Custom Orders

When you place a custom order, we ask for a 50% deposit upfront. After we receive your deposit, we start the production of your knife. You’ll need to pay the remaining 50% before we ship your order.

2. Buying Standard Knives

In addition to custom work, we also create small batches of standard knives. We announce these through our mailing list and sell them on our website. Once a batch sells out, it won’t return until we release a new one.

3. Delivery Times

For custom knives, the lead time depends on the complexity of your design and our current schedule. We’ll give you an estimated timeline, but please note that it’s not binding.

When you order a standard knife that’s in stock, we ship it within a few working days after receiving your payment.

4. Returning Your Knife

Because we make custom knives specifically for you, they cannot be cancelled or returned once we start production.

You can return standard knives within 14 days of delivery, as long as they are unused and in their original condition. Please contact us first before sending anything back. For international returns, you are responsible for all shipping costs and any import duties or taxes.

5. Warranty and Care

We stand behind the quality of our work. That’s why all knives come with a 5-year warranty that covers material and manufacturing defects.

In addition, we offer a lifetime maintenance service for your knife. This includes sharpening, cleaning, and refinishing. While this service is not free, we’re happy to give you a quote.

Please note that normal wear and tear, improper use, or lack of maintenance aren’t covered by the warranty.

6. Caring for Your Knife

We include a detailed care guide with every knife. Following these instructions will help your knife last a lifetime. Here are a few key tips:

  • Never put your knife in the dishwasher.

  • Always wash it by hand and dry it immediately.

  • Apply oil regularly if advised in the guide.

Want more advice? Check out the “Maintenance Tips” section on our website or contact us directly—we’re always here to help.

7. Pricing and Payments

All prices shown exclude VAT. When you place an order, we’ll send you our bank details for the payment.

Your order is confirmed once we’ve received the deposit (for custom work) or full payment (for standard knives).

8. Shipping and Customs

You pay for the shipping costs, which we clearly list during checkout. If you choose not to insure the shipment, you accept the risk of loss or damage during transit. Gratefulknives is not responsible for any issues that occur during shipping without insurance.

If you order from outside the country, you are also responsible for any import duties, taxes, or VAT.

9. Responsibility and Safe Use

Our knives are razor-sharp tools, made for adult kitchen use only. We are not responsible for injuries or damages caused by improper use.

10. Ownership and Agreement

Until you’ve paid the full amount, the knife remains the property of Gratefulknives.

By placing an order, you agree to all the terms and conditions listed above.
